"Activity-People-Space"- Sport facilities for residents in Venice

Design concept "going further"

We designed a cycling route for the kids, for practicing the sports activities by playing and cycling on the island of Giudecca. We are using two squares and a bridge, designed for cycler kids, around the existent bridge to assure an opportunity for the cyclers to cross the canals without the steps of the old bridge, to "take the joy of cycling further."

The functions of the building are specified for the parent's sports activities while overwatching the kids. The windows and the activities are facing to the direction of the cycling route to allow the supervision of the kids playing around.

The guidelines of the cycling route enters, ends or "goes further" upon the building facades, creating outdoor climbing possibilities on a small scale, to take the activities of the buildings out to the "space". With this action, we would like to create connections, not just between the squares, with the bridge, but even between the outdoor and indoor spaces using the sports activities like a bridge, to create the connection.

The outdoor climbing part starts with a ramp, which is also part of the cycling route, where the kids can go up and down. These lines are the places where the sports activities of the parents and the kids meets, connects and invites on another.  

In Campo Junghans on the unused ground floor of the building, we designed a bike rent/shop. In Calle Corte dei Cirdami using the ruins of the old building, we designed a new building that reflects the old building and the surrounding architecture but also the modern architecture of the apartments in the surroundings.
