CONVERSION - film production and education center

The movie storage on Septimiu Muresan Street is the property of RADEF RomaniaFilm. It was used until the 1990s for the storage of film films, but after the decline of the network of cinemas in Romania and the transition to digital technology, the space remained abandoned. This project involves the reactivation of an abandoned place and its conversion into work spaces specialized in film production plus public functions. The objectives of the project are related to a given context and starting a project from users and their activities, the film industry. The proposed site is located in a heterogeneous area, between industrial buildings, a bus station, institutions, individual homes and collective housing developed chaotically. That is why finding an appropriate form of construction is a challenge in itself.

CONVERSION - extension and office spaces

In order to approach the second part of this project, a scenario is started again.

After 8 years of successful operation, the Center proposes a strategy to expand the activity and at the same time, a first step towards economic self-support.

In this sense, part of the existing functions will be developed and a new function will appear, which means, at the same time, an extension of the space built by additions, new constructions, but also by functional rocks, which with minimum energy invested to meet the new requirements. In addition, given the precedents, the problem of a new density in the future will be raised, which means that the strategy of building should not be closed at this stage, but can function coherently.
